The Scottish Directors of Planning was formed in 1975. Their goal is to promote the interests of planning in local authorities by using directors and senior managers. The Society has 82 members from Scottish local authorities. However now the Scottish Directors of Planning goes under the name of Heads of Planning Scotland or HoPs.
About the Heads of Planning Scotland
They have an executive committee that oversees their affairs and this is broken down into 3 different groups:
- Development Management
- Development Planning
- Management and Development
The membership of the Heads of Planning Scotland is open to the following:
- Directors with reasonability of planning
- Heads of planning
- Officers with Functional management at a senior level.
They have many service improvement plans in the works with the Scottish government initiative. They are also at working designing streets for the Scottish government such as the Glasgow city council. Which include?
- Angus Service Improvement plan
- Cairngorms National park service improvement plan
- East Lothian service improvement plan
- East Renfrewshire service improvement plan
- Edinburgh Service improvement plan
- Glasgow service improvement plan
